About us

History

When in 2010 we invited players from 25 care and educational institutions from all over the country to participate in the first National Football Championship for Children from Orphanages "Hope for Euro", we did not expect that children would like the event so much. The games, full of joy and emotion, awakened the spirit of sportsmanship in them.

After the competition, young football players wrote to us that they did not stop training and wanted to meet at the next Championships. For them, we decided to continue our campaign. A year later, we organized the International Polish Championship "Hope for Euro" with the participation of teams including: from France, Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ukraine.

In 2012, we invited young players to the 3rd Polish Championships, as well as to the 1st European Championships, in which teams from orphanages from 15 countries on the Old Continent took part.

The event turned out to be a great success, and the great joy of the children and their great passion for football made us decide to change the name and organize the first ever Football World Championship for Children from Orphanages "Hope for the Mundial", which took place in Warsaw in 2013 Nearly 250 players from 23 countries around the world played at the Legia stadium: Argentina, Thailand, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Vietnam, Czech Republic, Macedonia, Finland, Germany, France, Belarus, Hungary, Lithuania, Switzerland, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Luxembourg, Russia , the Netherlands, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Estonia and Poland. Together with world stars of "adult" football, including Lukas Podolski, Quinton Fortune and Dariusz Dziekanowski, children from orphanages played their World Cup in the spotlight and under the watchful eye of television cameras. For it became obvious to everyone that the Polish Championships and World Championships must be held every year - because hundreds of children in orphanages around the world are waiting for them.

To date, over 11,000 players from 45 countries have taken part in our tournaments. They were applauded by nearly 20,000 fans at the Legia stadium and hundreds of thousands in front of TV sets. The guests of the tournaments every year are football stars, including: Zbigniew Boniek, Adam Nawałka, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Dariusz Dziekanowski, Jacek Krzynówek, Tomasz Sokołowski, Radosław Gilewicz, Maciej Szczęsny, Tomasz Kłos, Radosław Majdan, Siergiej Alejnikov, Ľubomír Moravčík, Frank Verlaat, Raul Valbuena, Thomas Berthold, Aleksandar Vuković and Patrick Mbeu.

Our projects for children from orphanages were awarded two Golden Clips awards in 2012 for the best PR campaigns in Poland - in the categories "Social event" and "Sport, tourism, recreation".

In 2016, the Polish national football team also joined in the promotion of the Championships, recording a video for young players from orphanages. The idea behind our tournaments was put into words by, among others: Grzegorz Krychowiak, Arkadiusz Milik and Michał Pazdan, who encouraged children from orphanages to fight on the pitch, saying "You are all World Champions!"

Mission

The "Hope for Mundial" Association was established to help children from orphanages realize their plans and dreams. We want to prove to children that if you believe in them, anything is possible.

We realize that football is one of the few opportunities for them to realize their deepest dreams, as well as the opportunity to have a better start in adult life. Meeting peers from all over the world and fighting on the football pitch in the national jersey gives children a sense of self-esteem and dignity.

Passion

We want to give children from orphanages not only "Hope for the World Cup", but also a start to a better future.

Through our activities, we want to initiate a social movement whose goal is to integrate children as fully as possible with the world outside care and educational institutions.
