Nour Shabaan participated in the 4th World Cup of Children from Care Homes and, in a letter to us, described how taking part in our tournament inspired him to take action that is now making a real difference in the lives of thousands of children in care homes in Egypt.

The former “Hope for Mundial” player Nour Shabaan, who is the co-founder of the Egyptian organization NGO “Basmat Nour for Development Bridges” contacted us recently.

“My journey with “Hope for Mundial” dates back to 2016, when I was selected to participate as part of the “Awlady Foundation” team from Egypt. Although life took me on a different path back then, the dream of representing my country and empowering my peers never faded. Since then, my path has evolved from an individual volunteer to leading a national movement. My journey began as a personal initiative, founding the “Nogoum Awlady Academy” to discover talents within orphanages. Building on that success, I launched the “Abnaa Misr League”, and later the “Gusour Championship”.

My commitment to this cause extended beyond sports into cultural advocacy. I participated in the TV series “Walad El Shams” (Sons of the Sun), which highlighted the stories of orphans. This role positioned me as a role model for thousands of children in orphanages. I have dedicated my life to using this influence to improve their lives, providing them with hope, guidance, and tangible opportunities for a better future.

Today, I am proud to inform you that these efforts have culminated in the establishment of an official Civil Society Organization (NGO) in Egypt: “Basmat Nour for Development Bridges”. We are now a fully registered entity working closely with the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Social Solidarity to integrate and empower orphans through sports.

We are ready to assemble and lead a National Team representing Egypt, selected from the best talents across various orphanages in the country, to compete in the next edition of Hope for Mundial.

We are dedicated to supporting our younger brothers and sisters in care homes across Egypt. We are currently organizing a major national championship named “Gusour” (Bridges), which will kick off this February. This event will serve as a selection ground for the national team and will include a conference attended by the Minister of Social Solidarity and the Minister of Youth and Sports.

We want to officially start tryouts and selection tests in orphanages across Egypt soon, and we are also planning a training camp for the selected players.”

We are very impressed by Nour Shabaan’s work – and of course, we have invited “Basmat Nour for Development Bridges” to the next World Cup! It’s incredible how one person’s desire to help others has inspired so many people and brought them together to change the lives and futures of children in care homes. “Basmat Nour” – we’re cheering you on with all our hearts and we can’t wait to see you in Warsaw!
